Launching Pink Programming Festival
May 21, 2025
From grassroots to national impact, Pink Programming marks a decade of breaking norms and shaping the future of tech. This November 7-8, the organization is celebrating their 10 years anniversary by launching their very first festival — a bold next chapter on the journey toward a gender equal tech industry.
10 years of Pink Programming
What started as a three-person initiative has grown into Sweden’s largest programming community for women and non-binary people — supported by 100 dedicated volunteers annually.
Over the past 10 years, Pink Programming has driven meaningful change by hosting 300 unique activities and welcoming over 10,000 participants — creating space for exploration, support, and a sense of community in a field where many feel isolated. Along the way, the organisation has continually evolved by listening to their community through focus groups, testing new concepts, and redefining what Pink Programming can be. Driving change from within by educating companies on the need for inclusion, advocating in the right rooms, and bringing their cause to the right people.
Through skill-building opportunities and partnerships with companies committed to inclusion, the impact now extends far beyond the coding community — influencing boardrooms, shaping tech teams, and helping define the future of work. The organization is at the forefront, creating synergies between the forces of civil society and the tech sector’s growing need for skills and talent.

The first ever Pink Programming Festival
Pink Programming presents the Pink Programming Festival — Sweden’s first coding festival focused on women and non-binary people. A two-day experience that brings together everything the organization has built over the years, now amplified in scale and ambition. Held at Media Evolution in Malmö, the festival will be a celebration of creativity, community, and code, featuring hands-on workshops, in-depth sessions with industry leaders, and a vibrant, collaborative atmosphere.
The festival is a way of looking ahead — bringing together people, ideas, and technology to explore what an inclusive future in tech can look like. The organization is driving this mission forward for the industry in Sweden — creating momentum, building networks, and expanding opportunities.
Why now?
As initiatives for diversity and inclusion are being scaled back in many parts of the world, Pink Programming is choosing a different path — because the need for inclusive spaces, representation, and community remains urgent. Today, only about 20% of developers are women (SCB, 2023), a number the organization is determined to change. But this commitment isn’t new for them. It’s something they’ve always believed in, built their work around, and will continue to fight for — this it’s not just a festival; it’s a statement of intent.
